



There are seven YBOYS Expeditions this summer ranging from introductory trips to demanding mountaineering adventures. No outdoor experience or equipment is necessary. A desire to have fun and challenge yourself in spirit, mind and body required!

TIER I EXPEDITIONS
Introductory trips to learn outdoor and leadership skills while exploring the most beautiful parts of Washington.
Rock On! Spring Break - April 1-4th
$300 / $450 / $595
Grades 6th-8th
Spend spring break climbing the cliffs and pillars of Eastern Washington. No experience required! Starting in Seattle you will road trip to Vantage, Washington where you will base camp high above the Columbia River. For the next four days you will climb the nearby cliffs; learning how to belay, climb efficiently and effectively, and how to keep yourself and your team safe. Rock Climbing is the perfect activity to challenge yourself and learn how to accomplish the impossible.
Rock On! Climbing - June 22-27th
$350 / $550/ $850*
Entering grades 7th-9th
Learn to rock climb among the granite cliffs and spires of Washington. No experience required! Starting in Seattle you will drive to the eastern slope of the Cascade Mountains where you will base camp on the banks of Icicle Creek River. For the next five days you will climb the nearby cliffs; learning how to belay, climb efficiently and effectively, and how to keep yourself and your team safe. Rock Climbing is the perfect activity to challenge yourself and learn how to accomplish the impossible.
The Cascade Challenge - July 20-24th
$300 / $500 / $750*
Entering grades 7th-9th
Fishing! Campfires! Camping! The challenge and beauty of the Cascade Mountains await. No experience necessary! This course travels through the gorgeous Alpine lakes wilderness where you will learn the essentials of backpacking and outdoor living. You will hike through old growth forests, swim in alpine lakes, fish for trout in mountain streams, discover the art of fire-making, and learn how to cook over a camp stove. You will be challenged, but with a willingness to try your best you will know that you have accomplished something amazing.
Alpine Lakes Backpacking - July 5-12th
$350 / $550 / $850*
Entering grades 9th-12th
High in the Cascade mountains there exists a land of clear mountain lakes, meadows filled with wildflowers, and snow capped peaks called the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. This will be your classroom as you learn the basics of backpacking and outdoor living. You will hike through old growth forests, swim in alpine lakes, fish for trout in mountain streams, and may have the opportunity to summit a peak or two. You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills in workshops and in practice as you manage the team for a day. After taking on the challenge of the wilderness you will know you can overcome any obstacle placed before you.
Olympic Coastal Hiking - August 14-20th
$350 / $550 / $850*
Entering grades 7th-9th
Learn to backpack as you explore the stunning Olympic coast and the Pacific Ocean. This expedition starts in Seattle where you will pack all the necessary gear for your expedition and then drive out to the Makah Indian Reservation on the Olympic Peninsula. From there you will load up your backpack and hike through the rainforest and down the beach, where you may see eagles and seals and explore tide-pools filled with marine life. You will camp each night just above the beach, body surf in the waves, watch dramatic sunsets and share stories around a campfire. Backpacking is the perfect activity to physically challenge yourself, develop leadership skills as you help the group reach their next destination, and explore the beauty of the Olympic coast and the Pacific Ocean. Kayak the San Juan Islands - August 2429th

Students entering grades 7th-9th
Learn to paddle a kayak, sleep under the stars, and explore the beautiful
San Juan Islands. This expedition starts at Indian Cove on Shaw Island, two hours
north of Seattle where you will learn to paddle a kayak and pack all the gear you
will need for your odyssey. From there you will paddle throughout the islands
where you may encounter eagles, seals, whales, and sea otters, and camp each
night on a different island. Sea kayaking is the perfect activity to challenge
yourself, learn valuable leadership skills, and see a beautiful part of the Pacific
Northwest.
TIER II EXPEDITIONS
These longer trips are more challenging, more technical, and provide greater opportunities to develop leadership skills. This is YBOYS taken to the next level. Are you ready?
Advanced Climbing Camp - July 2nd-15th
$550/$850/$1350*
Students entering grades 9th-12th
Come take it to the next level on this full immersion rock climbing camp. You’ll learn the fundamentals of climbing on some of the Northwest’s famous granite walls and towering spires. You will learn technical skills and climbing techniques, rope systems, anchors, rappelling and belaying, protection placement, risk management and lead philosophy. You’ll have ample opportunity to practice your climbing skills while you develop a strong foundation in backcountry cooking, personal and peer leadership, and outdoor livingall while camping in some of the most beautiful parts of the Northwest. The days are long, and the climbs can be big, but by the end you will know you can achieve the impossible.
Backpacking and Rock Climbing - July 28th Aug. 10th
$500/$800/$1300*
Students entering grades 9th-12th
Come and test yourself on this exciting mountaineering adventure! Starting in Seattle, where you will pack all the necessary gear, you will head up into the North Cascades where you will learn the skills necessary to safely travel in the mountains. As the course progresses you will have an opportunity to summit a peak or two and learn how to rock climb. This is the most physically challenging of the expeditions YBOYS offers, but also one of the most rewarding. After completing this course you will know that you can overcome any obstacle placed before you. Do you think you have what it takes?
